Sweater Weather Knit & Stitch Social

Hello Everyone!

It’s that time of year again and the Sweater Weather Knit and Stitch Social is being held on Saturday 1st November at La Caverna Restaurant

We are having a knitwear fashion show for those who want to show off their sweater along with any accessories like cowls, hats, mittens, scarves etc.

AND we have a fashion illustrator and live event artist joining us as a special guest.

Louise Boughton who has extensive experience doing live illustrations at fashion shows and events in Ireland and abroad will be doing illustrations  during our “Knitwear on the Catwalk”.

Louise Boughton

We hope she will share her experiences from the recent London Fashion Week held a couple weeks ago.

It’s going to be an exciting  opportunity to showcase your handknits!

Tickets now available for purchase

Looking forward to seeing you on 1st November.

Autumn Knit & Stitch Social

We had a great start to the 2025/26 season of the monthly Knit and Stitch Social on September 4th at @la caverna. It was a fun and happy afternoon. The new set up of smaller tables was well received so we will continue with that.

As many of you know, the monthly Knit and Stitch Social is held on the first Saturday of each month.

We have booked for the rest of this year to give everyone certainty.

The next three Socials will be held on: Saturday 4th October, Saturday 1st November and the Knitmas party will be Saturday 6th December.

Tickets are available to purchase now for Saturday 4th October.

Hands Up….

As a Nurse, my hands take a beating with handwashing and hand sanitiser.

I may be 59, however, my hands do look 20 years older. Years of on and off self-caring for my hands have led to bouts of eczema.

Keeping a routine is difficult enough when I’m at work. I’ll need to make it a habit of applying hand lotion regularly.

Adding nail varnish each weekend does make me feel good.

Journaling for Self-care

Traditionally the month of December is a busy one when I prepare for the Festive Season. Taking a slow and reflective approach as I reacquainted myself with the journaling.

Journaling for self-care can be an easy way to practice self-care.

Writing has been proven to have a beneficial effect on one’s mental health and sense of self.

A friend  gifted this Voyager Notebook to me

I’ve prepared a Traveler’s Notebook for expressing myself in the written word and it’s day one of keeping a self-care journal which is my first step toward putting my physical, mental, and emotional health needs at the top of my priority.

But first skincare…

Using personal protective equipment (PPE) while working as an anaesthetic nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic definitely took a toll on my skin. I frequently had bouts of “Maskne,” a type of acne which was linked to wearing a FFP3 facemask during my 10 hour shifts.

In addition to being a requirement for my job,

I was wearing my me made facemasks in public not only as a cloth barrier. but as a fashion fashion accessory.

Skin care was essentially non- existent of during this time. I hardly ever wore makeup while we were under lockdown.

Since life returned to normal after the pandemic, I resumed with the basics, mainly  purchasing from well-known brands offering 3 for 2 sales and promotional gifts which I never utilised

After October 7th of last year, I began boycotting specific brands and companies,  as a way to show my support for Palestine.

So, I researched a.k.a. scrolling through my  TikTok feed looking at beauty brands with similiar values to mine and an ethos that I could live with.
The algorithms used by social media platforms influenced my purchasing power as a consumer.

What beauty brand did I choose?
