Have I finally achieved planner peace?

I found my pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, a Longchamp planner/organiser.

For years, I’ve been searching charity shops and online buy/sell sites for preloved Filofaxes. I’ve lost count how many of these ringed binders are in my collection.

These past few months,  luxury branded organisers have peaked my interest on online sites like Catawiki and Vinted. I’ve often lost out because I have placed a self-imposed price limit when bidding on a particular planner.

Then one morning while scrolling thru my Vinted feed, the algorithm worked up a charm, a Longchamp organiser.

It’s a pebbled leather in a mellow mustard yellow. There are Longchamp inserts from 1999. It’s also stamp embossed Made in  in France.

For now, I’ve stopped chasing rainbows and found planner peace.

From the Dye Pots

Last Sunday was the day to dust off the drop spindle and get over to the Dublin chapter of tbe IGWSD January meeting.

It was lovely to see familiar fibre friends again in the Timber Yard in Dublin 8.

There was an amazing talk by Lisa Cassidy, who talked about her experience in the year long Natural Dyers Academy By Apple Oak Fibers.

Lisa brought along her samples and dyeing portfolio…

Launching a Supper Club for Makers

Monday 13th January was the launch of our Meet the Makers Supper Club. When Greg initially thought of the idea of a weeknight meet up as a result of comments made from the craft community that some folks would not be able make it to our monthly Knit and Stitch Social on a Saturday.

So the Supper Club was born to encompass not only knitters and crocheters but also to include all domains of the craft community.

Greg reached out to Shannon at La Caverna, and a menu with 3 meat  and 3 vegetarian/ vegan options was created.

6 of us, an intimate number, enjoying the lovely meal at La Caverna.
We were not only knitters. We were crocheters, dollmakers, dressmakers, knitting instructor, sewists, patchwork quilters, yarnshop owner…. we were a creative and talented group of Makers.

I am delighted to announce there we will be doing it again!

Meet the Makers Supper Club

Hi Everyone,

The Meet the Maker social event is a trial to see if there’s interest in a monthly evening dinner social that welcomes all makers whether it’s crochet, embroidery,  knitting, paper crafting, sewing etc. It’s a chance for those who prefer an evening for meeting up with like minded makers.

Greg and I are organising this trial supper club at La Caverna Restaurant to socialise over a lovely dinner of your choice from a select menu at a very good price. The supper club is not for profit. The amount you pay is simply to cover the cost of your meal plus gratuity and sum up fee.

Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Tickets are available here

If you attend the monthly Saturday knitting socials, you will know what to expect. If you are new and have any questions,  please feel free to write to us at:

Hands Up….

As a Nurse, my hands take a beating with handwashing and hand sanitiser.

Hands Up video

I may be 59, however, my hands do look 20 years older. Years of on and off self-caring for my hands have led to bouts of eczema.

Keeping a routine is difficult enough when I’m at work. I’ll need to make it a habit of applying hand lotion regularly.

Adding nail varnish each weekend does make me feel good.

Journaling for Self-care

Traditionally the month of December is a busy one when I prepare for the Festive Season. Taking a slow and reflective approach as I reacquainted myself with the journaling.

Journaling for self-care can be an easy way to practice self-care.

Writing has been proven to have a beneficial effect on one’s mental health and sense of self.

A friend  gifted this Voyager Notebook to me

I’ve prepared a Traveler’s Notebook for expressing myself in the written word and it’s day one of keeping a self-care journal which is my first step toward putting my physical, mental, and emotional health needs at the top of my priority.

The Dublin Knitwork

Hello!

I’ve gained some new followers and I would like to re-introduce myself here.

My name is Diane, and I’m originally from the city of Mississauga, Ontario and moved to Dublin in 2006.

I learned the basics of sewing in high school and learned how to knit from my classmates in college.

I call myself a Social Knitworker, because I enjoy networking and welcoming knitters to our CommuniKnitty.

I created a social media profile as Dublin Knitwork as a means to share who, what and where mainly in and around Dublin.

I still write the odd blogpost here.

Since September 2023, my other half @themurphyleaf and I decided to revive and rebrand the Temple Stitch n Bitch as the Dublin Knit and Stitch Social.

We currently plan and organise a monthly event where knitters/crocheters come together  to eat, drink, and make, as well as doing our part to support the local and independently owned restaurants and cafes in Dublin.

@themurphyleaf is currently behind the scene, planning the annual Knitmas Party….watch this space!

So Udderly Cool!

I took advantage of the Udderly Cool Leather clearance sale last week and got myself a new journal.

Better yet, I was actually at home when the package arrived thru our door’s mail slot this morning.

Unboxing was pure delight to find it was wrapped in old newspaper and waxed string.

It’s soooo nice!

An A5 notebook leather cover with two bookmarkers and 2 notebooks for my creative journal.

Year of Making 2023

It’s a new year, along with a new creative challenge hosted by Kim Werker ( @kpwerker on Instagram).

My creative mojo needs a serious tune-up and a good kick in the a**. So, I’m joining Kim in making 2023 a Year of Making.

The concept is really quite simple: commit to spending even a couple of minutes every day making something… it doesn’t matter what and I get to decide what counts.

I am so excited to get started that I even started a new journal. I even ink stamped a new insert to go into my Voyager notebook.
